Interested in learning more about how yarn is made, and furthering your appreciation for local & natural fibers? Maybe you are unable to make it the Beginning Drop Spindle class on Saturday at Black Sheep Gathering? If one or both of these apply, this demo is definitely for you!

This 90 minute demonstration will cover the basics of how fleece from the farm becomes yarn, with basic tools and a little practice: fiber + twist = yarn! We'll start with drop spindles, giving each participant a beginner drop spindle to borrow, plus enough roving to play around with.

At the end of the instruction, we'll discuss other tools that are used to make yarn, including support spindles and wheels. Participants can then purchase the spindle (for a very discounted demo participant price) should they wish to continue their fiber explorations!

No prior experience required, but if you have a drop spindle and would like a refresher this is a perfect opportunity. Kim and Jess have a combined total of MANY years experience hand spinning, and love to share their passion for natural fibers with new spinners.

The mill shop will be open for shopping, tours and social making June 27th, 1pm - 5pm and Saturday June 28th 10am-4pm.
