Feeling a little frustrated in your journey to learn to spin yarn on a spinning wheel? Are you newer to the craft or returning after a long bit away? This Handspinning 911 session was created just for you! Kim, Sandy (a handspinner for 40 years!) and even Jess (owner Skagit Woolen Works) will be available to help, and that's a lot of valuable handspinners at your fingertips!
Don't forget, there is a Beginning Handspinning class on Friday at Black Sheep Gathering and this workshop could be a great way to keep yourself practicing and learning more. However you have gotten started this workshop is designed to help you get unstuck hands on help so you can be successful in your handspinning jouney.
We'll cover the basics of how your wheel works so that you can confidently make adjustments to it rather than trying to adjust your spinning. We'll also talk briefly about wool and how certain fibers and prep can make spinning so much smoother.  After that we'll open up for Q&A as you all tell us where you are having issues and we work through them as a team!
Learning to spin on a spinning wheel takes time, patience and practice, but you can definitely do this and Handspinning 911 is here to help. We'll have you feeling more confident in your handspinning as well how to make your wheel work for you!
Skill level: intended for beginning handspinners or those feeling stuck. Please note this is NOT a learn to handspin class. You should already understand the basics even if you aren't able to turn it into "good" yarn yet.
Tools: Please bring your spinning wheel or e-spinner in good working order. If you are travelling and won't have one with you, please let us know in advance so we can provide a wheel.
The mill shop will be open for shopping,  tours and social making June 27th, 1pm - 5pm and Saturday June 28th 10am-4pm.
