This is a Border Leicester wool and mohair blend. 80/20. The addition of the yearling mohair adds luster, softness, strength and a fabulous drape. This yarn was designed as a natural alternative yarn for socks but would be lovely for shawls and other finished garments. Border Leicester is a durable wool with a longer staple length which allows for more twist and less pilling with wear. All fibers for this yarn were grown, milled and dyed in Oregon.
I mill this yarn here on sight in small batches and often I also dye in small batches. If you do not see the colors you want in stock or would like to mix and match colors (i.e. the main color to be dyed) please feel free to email and I will do my best to accommodate whenever I can.
If you are purchasing yarn for the Guan-Xi sock pattern by Tiffany Chen found in Issue 7 of Making Stories Magazine, we have found that the sock kits contain plenty of yarn to complete the socks.
This a heavy fingering weight/sport 3-ply yarn. 225 yards. Recommended needle size US size 1-3.
